Public transit used to be great, but now it's in pieces.
Public transit is important. It keeps people moving, and it also is stress-relieving. No more traffic on the road, no more stress on exits and changing lanes. It also is very efficient, unlike cars. So why don't we use it more, and why are cars so dominant?
People need their exercise. It's just a fact. Public transit helps with that, by making their stops easily accessible by walking and biking. Cars are a point to point method of transportation, and by making transit point to point, they effectively reduce the need for movement. All they cause are stress and traffic; meanwhile, public transportation is quite relaxing and also there is no traffic, only the chance for the train to be late. So why is public transportation so unused?
It's because of cars. Cars started being mass produced with the Model T in the late 1800's, and Ford and other car companies have been pushing against public transportation ever since. It's why America is so car-dependent, and also so polluted. Train service to small towns was regular before cars, but is non-existent now. So what can we do now?
Take more public transit. It may seem very simple, but it is actually effective at funding transit, and you may also find that you like it. I certainly do. It's a great way to help in the effort against cars and to a lesser extent, global warming and climate change, and it also is pretty refreshing to have a breath of fresh air. It's just a great way to get outside.
Public transit is important, but if we don't act now, it may be too late to save it. It would be a great loss if we lose public transit, because it's so useful. It lets people get out there and enjoy life without being responsible for a global catastrophe, and it's also very efficient. So what are you waiting for? Get out there and go explore the world.
